The benefits of protein in a face mask are great: the 21 amino acids in a complete protein will be utilized in elastin and collagen production. That’s what helps your skin heal from burns, cuts, etc. and also will help reinforce our skin, which is the first armour against the outside world. Luckily, adding our No Yolking™ – 100 % Egg White Protein Powder will give you all the amazing benefits of the protein without the risk of adding bacteria to skin (as with a raw egg white).

 INGREDIENTS:

2 tbsp (30 mL) *liquid (see below for options)
1 tbsp (15 mL) aloe gel (or pureed cucumber)
1 tsp (5 mL) No Yolking™ – 100 % Egg White Protein Powder
1 tsp (5 mL) unpasteurized honey
Essential oil (see below for options)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together until smooth.
  2. Apply to the face for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

  5. Oat milk for sensitive skins
  • Essential Oils:

When adding essential oils (which have no fat or lipidic value) to your mask, it’s important to mix it or dilute it first as using it “neat”, or undiluted, could cause adverse effects. Adding it to a 1/2 tsp of grapeseed or hazelnut oil is fantastic and you can increase the oil amount for drier skin types.  These “lipidic” oils have a small molecular size that our skin loves. Avoid using heavier oils on your face, such as olive and coconut, as they can have a blocking effect and weigh the skin down.

Select one of the following essential oil blends to use in the above face mask based on the descriptions of their potential healing powers:

Frankincense *5 drops*:  This is great for wrinkles and when inhaled, it helps with fear and insecurity, too. In today’s world who couldn’t use a little more confidence.

Peppermint *1-2 drops*:  Peppermint gives a cool and refreshing feel to the skin. It helps soothe inflammation, irritation and itchiness on skin and scalp. When inhaled, it helps clear the brain and gives an awakened sense. If you use this facemask during the day, be sure to wear sunscreen as peppermint can make your skin photosensitive.

Rosemary *3-5 drops*: Rosemary is great for circulation, especially if you have issues of stressed capillaries or dull-looking skin. It will also help give tone to the skin. Add to conditioners for healthy shine and to stimulate hair growth on the head. Rosemary is great for memory recall, too. To help alleviate anxiety and open up the lungs, take in a deep slow breath through your nose when using it, then exhale through your mouth. Repeat this sequence a few times and see how much calmer and more focused you feel.

Lavender *2-5 drops*: Lavender mixes well with any of the above oils and should be a staple in everyone’s home.  Not only does it help regenerate new skin cell growth but it is like a first aid oil and is one that can be used directly on the skin (without diluting) to help heal a small cut or bite, acne scars or blemishes. When inhaled, lavender has a balancing effect on the mind, and if a person is tired or needs sleep, this is a go-to aid.  Great to add a drop or two directly on your pillow at night!
